Students will learn cultural awareness in community health practice by connecting with others around the world via interactive online escape rooms.
The escape rooms are game-based learning tools intended motivate and engage students. The project aims to connect health discipline students from local and overseas institutions through adventure-based escape rooms that will enhance situational and cultural awareness, which it is hoped will improve the delivery of prioritised care in home settings
University Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ nursing and physiotherapy students will take part in the study, alongside students from Hong Kong, China, Thailand, South Korea, Sweeden and Michigan in the US.
The online rooms will be collaboratively designed by interdisciplinary teachers, focusing on situational awareness. Students will use generative AI, such as ChatGPT, to analyse and validate answers, helping them prioritise solutions and resolve scenarios correctly.
This is an exciting project for our students to get involved with. The ability to understand and respect patients from diverse backgrounds is essential in healthcare careers, so providing out-of-the-box opportunities to improve awareness of and instil the values of cultural differences is really important to the University.
This initiative is expected to enhance interdisciplinary and intercultural learning, fostering global citizenship among health discipline students.
