The West Midlands Health Tech Innovation Accelerator (WMHTIA) 鈥 which is led by the University 麻豆精选 鈥 is pleased to announce it will continue its support of Health Tech innovators following an additional funding of 拢4m for 2025/26.
Funding comes after a further 拢30m was spread equally across three UK regions participating in the pilot programme that is focusing on locally-led innovation to drive economic growth and technological advancement.
The IA programme is led by Innovate UK on behalf of UK Research and Innovation and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. The WMHTIA is part of the West Midlands Combined Authority鈥檚 flagship Innovation Accelerator, which has secured an equal share of 拢10m to further support regional innovative businesses, researchers and entrepreneurs.
This additional funding builds on the 拢100 million already invested into the UK-wide pilot programme between 2022-25

The initial phase of the programme has seen BCU engage with 20+ business with cutting edge healthcare solutions that have created jobs, new products and solutions.鈥
Thorsten Kampmann, Senior Advisor at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, said: 鈥淪upporting the WMHTIA with technical support and mentoring has already significantly accelerated the start-up companies we worked with. Several new products were designed, new supply chains developed, and manufacturing solutions implemented. We look forward to continuing provisions of our services to the accelerator and the Health Tech community.鈥
