Peter is interested in supervising doctoral research students in the following areas:

• Methodology of randomised controlled trials.
• Exploring the mechanisms by which mother to child transmission of the gut microbiome influences later health outcomes.
• Exploring the use of routine data in randomised controlled trial design, conduct, and outcome evaluation.

I would be delighted to hear from students intending to work on any aspect of Modern German history, as well as those with thematic interests in the histories of religion, war and memory in any European context since 1800.

I have not been the lead supervisor of any postgraduate research but I have had an input into several postgraduate researchers’ work.

I am happy to supervise postgraduate students in my areas of expertise in German Studies (Early Modern Germany, Anglo-German cultural relations) and Translation Studies (translation history, literary translation, gender and translation).
