In contrast, reading comprehension has not received the same attention and there is little in the way of evidence-based and evaluated programmes and support for teacher training. This presentation will share the process taken to co-construct a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) with practising educators and the outcomes of the mixed-methods quasi-experimental feasibility study designed to evaluate the impact on teacher professional learning and pupil outcomes. Megan will share the findings of the studies and reflect on the challenges of translating research evidence into effective practice.\n Biography Megan Dixon has balanced a career in education and school leadership with an academic research career. She has a wealth of school leadership, school improvement and policy experience, including working for the Education Endowment Foundation, as a MAT Executive Leader, as a Local Authority English consultant, as a Head Teacher, teacher trainer and a teacher. Her research interests are informed by her school experiences and lie in the acquisition of literacy in primary aged children, spoken language development and the translation and implementation of research into educational practice.
