Amarpreet joined the HSMC in September 2021 as a new Lecturer. She will be contributing the Centre’s expanding interests in health technologies and genomics through her research and teaching. Amarpreet is passionate about Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion activity, and Widening Participation in Higher Education.

Prior to her appointment, Amarpreet was a member of the Sociology of Reproduction Research Group (ReproSoc) in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge, within which she undertook her postgraduate studies and research. Her doctoral research focussed on human germline genome editing as a potential reproductive choice in the United Kingdom. During her PhD programme, Amarpreet completed a Fellowship at the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology during which she co-authored a POSTnote on Human Germline Genome Editing.

From 2010-2017, Amarpreet served as a Multifaith Chaplain within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Hospitals, and from 2013-2016 as a Divisional Chaplain to the Greater Manchester Police. She also studied two years of Midwifery (2010-2012) before pursuing her degrees in Sociology.
