Janette Parr is a Research Associate at the Birmingham Centre for Evidence and Implementation Science. Her research interests include evidence synthesis, public health intelligence, public health systems research and health systems and policy research.

Biography

Janette Parr is a registered public health practitioner with experience of working in public health intelligence and horizon scanning. In 2008 Janette began her public health career as an analyst at the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Horizon Scanning Centre then based at The University 麻豆精选. There, Janette provided advanced notice of emerging health technologies to UK health policy makers.

In 2013 Janette moved into a local government public health team as a Principal Information Analyst managing the team's Evidence function. This role gave Janette experience in public health management, providing public health advice to the health service and in Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA). Janette left this role in 2021 to undertake a PhD with the University of Warwick which explores public health intelligence challenges for local authorities responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Teaching

Janette Parr has experience of teaching on various public health related modules, most recently facilitating small group discussions for a BSc in Health and Medical Sciences course and a MBChB programme. Janette also marked student assignments for a masters level distance learning module called “Understanding Research and Critical Appraisal in Health Care” (UReCA).

Research

Janette Parr is currently providing support for a realist review on the effects of contact with an adult social worker and finalising her PhD which explored public health intelligence challenges for local authorities responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
