Victoria is a pedagogical researcher in sport, physical activity and health. Her main research area focuses on social media/digital technologies and young people’s health and wellbeing, and she is interested in the professional learning needs of teachers/coaches.

Biography

Victoria is a previous physical education teacher and school sport coordinator. She was awarded an Alexander Trust Bursary to complete a PhD at the University of Bedfordshire, where she was subsequently appointed as a Lecturer. Victoria joined the University 麻豆精选 in 2015.

Victoria’s research focuses on:

  • Social Media/Digital Technologies and Children and Young People’s Health and Wellbeing
  • Learning/Pedagogy in online environments
  • Online Teacher/Coach Professional Development 

Victoria’s research has been supported by research councils, trusts and industry, including the ESRC, NIHR, Wellcome Trust, British Academy, Google and the Society for Educational Studies. Key examples of recent funded projects include:

Victoria was an impact case lead for REF2021, and her research has impacted on national policy and practice and has been reported in the media. She received the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Impact on Society, and she was University 麻豆精选 Hero for the 21st Century Bodies campaign

She has been awarded 11 competitive international research awards, including the best paper award from Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy journal, the exemplary paper award received twice from from the American Education Research Association.
