Course overview
This is a one-day course allowing the opportunity for pain experts to share learning, experience and latest research and evidence. Open to students, Allied health professionals and acute and chronic pain professionals in continuous professional development.

A great networking opportunity, supporting a trainee-led event to both inspire future generation pain specialists and collaboration of experienced health professionals currently working in the challenging NHS.
Course delivery
The course will be run on Friday 4th July.
The skills you will gain include:
- Update of acute pain that remains greatest burden on pain on hospital services and latest evidence of methods to reduce
- Understanding of the use of the latest virtual reality technology in the management of acute pain for burns dressing changes or physiotherapy after injury.
- Update the latest evidence on the management of analgesia for rib fracture pain.
- Understanding of the management of patients with known substances abuse in the acute pain setting.
- Opioid de-escalation and stewardship.
- The current findings of the ORIGIN trial, looking in to the benefits of a novel nerve blocking technique to reduce post-operative and chronic pain post sternotomy.

Entry requirements
The course is designed for those working in trusts, academia or industry; with an interest in pain and latest research. The day is for those who have little experience in pain and to those who wish to expand their knowledge of key topics identified in pain and research. A great networking opportunity and allowing for continued professional development in healthcare.
