Initiatives & infrastructure

Applied mathematics research in Birmingham is integrated with a number of collaborative initiatives in science, industry, medicine and technology both within and beyond the university. We have a wealth of experience across a range of different areas and are enthusiastic about leading and contributing to further collaborations.

BlueBEAR

is Birmingham University’s high performance computing facility, used by members of the applied mathematics group for modelling and simulation.

CCB

The creation of the Centre for Computational Biology (CCB) is a fantastic opportunity to combine many of the field’s components, from both the development and applications sides. 

CMMCE

Centre for Mathematical Modelling in Chemical Engineering is a collaboration between members of the applied group and the School of Chemical Engineering, with a strong focus on industrial and pharmaceutical applications.

Institute of Microbiology and Infection

Institute of Microbiology and Infection (IMI) is a cross-college community of scientists at the vanguard of research into combatting antimicrobial and antibiotic resistance.

ChRS 

Centre for Human Reproductive Science, based at Birmingham Women’s Hospital Fertility Centre, is the centre of an international network bringing together multidisciplinary expertise, including cell biology, chemistry, imaging, engineering and mathematical modelling to develop new diagnostics and treatments for infertility.

Complex Systems with Interfaces (COSI) Research Network

is a research network devoted to the study of complex interfacial phenomena, joint between the Universities 麻豆精选, East Anglia, and Nottingham, and is supported by the London Mathematical Society.

Healthcare Technologies Institute

HTI is an interdisciplinary institute at the University 麻豆精选 advancing new technologies and treatments that ensure people live longer, healthier, happier lives.
