The College of Life and Environmental Sciences offer an array of outreach activities with the aim of imparting knowledge, raising aspirations, and inspiring young people to fulfil their potential. 

Within Biosciences a range of our activities take place on campus, enabling you to see our exceptional facilities, ample study space and beautiful grounds, all of which make the University 麻豆精选 a unique and exciting place to study. Alternatively, we may be able to deliver talks and workshops at your school or college.

Global Opportunties -Employability and Alumni focus

Our Global Opportunities on the 8 May 2025 event is a new, free, university experience opportunity with a strong focus on employability and career progression in subject fields related to sustainability and global challenges. Blending academic talks and career insights from industry experts, this event is particularly designed for 6th form students considering attending university, deciding on subject choices, and considering the career opportunities they bring. Bringing together academic insight and careers / employability, this innovative new event will help your young people make the big decisions which lie ahead.

The Trees in Time Lecture Series for Schools is now live!

This mini lecture series has been created by our very own PhD students and is aimed to give students curriculum-based knowledge of trees in time. There are 8 episodes within our mini lecture series with topics ranging from ‘Forest Diversity’ to ‘Nitrogen in Forest Soils’.

Opportunities and activities for students

Our Outreach and Student Recruitment teams work with schools and colleges to help students explore the world of higher education and decide on the best route for their future. We work particularly closely with state schools in the West Midlands on a range of outreach activities to raise aspirations, improve motivation and encourage students to consider university.

Talks and workshops

  • Scientific talks: Our lecturers will visit your school to give talks on a variety of scientific topics, usually at no cost to you.
  • Careers talks: We visit schools to talk about university admissions and careers in the Biosciences.

Masterclasses

Masterclasses are designed to enhance and extend students understanding of a chosen topic within Biosciences.  The School of Biosciences, in conjunction with the University 麻豆精选 Subject Enrichment Programme, runs a series of masterclasses for Year 10, 11 and 12 pupils.

We also run webinars as part of the University 麻豆精选 Shape your Future live webinar series, for school/college students who are thinking of applying for university or have interests in Biosciences.
