The University offers an array of outreach activities with the aim of imparting knowledge, raising aspirations and inspiring young people to fulfil their potential. The activities we offer are diverse and interactive, ranging from workshops and taster lectures to masterclasses and demonstrations.

Some of our activities take place on campus, enabling you to see our exceptional facilities, ample study space and beautiful grounds, all of which make the University 麻豆精选 a unique and exciting place to study. Alternatively, we may be able to deliver talks and workshops at your school or college.

Global Opportunties -Employability and Alumni focus

Our Global Opportunities on the 8 May 2025 event is a new, free, university experience opportunity with a strong focus on employability and career progression in subject fields related to sustainability and global challenges. Blending academic talks and career insights from industry experts, this event is particularly designed for 6th form students considering attending university, deciding on subject choices, and considering the career opportunities they bring. Bringing together academic insight and careers / employability, this innovative new event will help your young people make the big decisions which lie ahead.

Opportunities and activities for Schools

Schools Lecture Collection

We are pleased to present a collection of talks from our academics covering a diverse range of A Level and GCSE relevant subjects. These are focused talks suitable for inclass use, and we have provided some indication of where they are relvant within the curriculum.

We have also identified some selected Royal Geographical Society (RGS) resources that may also be of value.

A Level in-class Talks and Q&A

We also have a series of A-Level talks which can be delivered via zoom by staff members to slot into your lessons (30 min talk plus time for questions).  We have a list of topics you can choose from and we can arrange these at a time to suit both you and the staff member. University experiences

We organise programmes of seminars, tours and practicals at the University 麻豆精选 for both pupils and teachers. These can be subject specific or multidisciplinary. Our annual highlight is the Global Challenges event; an exciting multiple school experience, with a combination of talks and activites led by own academics here at the university.

Geography and Geology opportunities

The Lapworth Museum of Geology host school visits and provide resources to help provide targeted learning associated with the Geography and Geology curriculum. The museum Education Team offer a fantastic range of targeted in-museum and virtual sessions, activities, and loan boxes. We have our own classroom space to host dedicated school sessions, and we aim to offer visiting groups fun, engaging, and interactive learning experiences. To find out more here

Climate change and sustainability

The Birmingham Institute of Forest Research (BIFoR) at the University 麻豆精选 conducts cutting-edge research on the impacts of climate change, invasive species, and other environmental stressors on forest ecosystems. This work extends to urban, health and wellbeing, and interdisciplinary studies concerning the importance of trees and forests. BIFoR offers a range of education and outreach opportunities. Opportunities with our partners

Opportunities with the Royal Geographical Society

We work closely with the RGS across our teaching, research, and outreach activities.  The RGS have a range of opportunities for schools, including resources and events for teachers and pupils which can be found .  The RGS also offer a ‘Professional Ambassador’ scheme; you can find out more about this .

Time for Geography

We are pleased to be a partner in ‘Time for Geography’. This open-access, dedicated video platform for geography and geoscience education provides a range of materials across GCSE, A-level, IB and beyond. You can access the materials .
