Anita Pye works predominantly in respiratory research and Phase 1 to 3 clinical trials looking at new treatments for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She also has considerable experience of assessment of bacteria in chronic lung disease.

Biography

Anita has worked at the University 麻豆精选 since 1993 after completing a PhD looking at the assessment and characterisation of bacterial load in chronic lung disease. 

Since 2003 Anita has been organising and administering large and complex clinical research projects, including international, multi-centre clinical trials in alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, COPD and bronchiectasis. This involves contributing to the design, conduct, analysis, publication and presentation of clinical trials research. 

Anita has a wealth of experience of research ethics and working to Good Clinical Practice guidelines.

Research

Anita’s research activity is currently focused on lung disease in patients with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, with a developing interest in liver disease that also occurs in this patient group. Previous research includes bacterial colonisation and exacerbations in chronic lung disease with a particular interest in non-typeable Haemophilus influenzae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
