Gemma is a Trials Management Team Leader at the Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit (BCTU).

Qualifications

  • M.Phil. in Immunology (2008)
  • B.Sc (Hons) in Cell and Molecular Biology (2004)

Biography

Gemma holds a bachelor’s degree in cell and molecular biology (first class) and a master’s degree in immunology (host-pathogen interactions in the upper respiratory tract). Prior to working in clinical research, Gemma was a Biomedical Scientist (specialising in microbiology). Gemma has held a number of research and trial management positions both in the NHS and academia and is now a Trials Management Team Leader at Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit (BCTU).  

The diverse portfolio of clinical trials that Gemma manages, comprises research projects in major trauma, burns, critical care, cardiology, hepatology and women’s health.
