Clare J Taylor is Professor of General Practice at the University 麻豆精选 and a GP in the NHS. Her research focuses on earlier diagnosis and improving prognosis for people with heart failure in primary care using big GP datasets.

Professor Taylor has received grant and fellowship funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research, Wellcome Trust, and British Heart Foundation. She has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in high impact journals, including British Medical Journal and European Heart Journal, and her research has informed international heart failure guidelines.

Professor Taylor is an experienced lecturer and supervisor at undergraduate, masters and PhD level. She also held senior leadership positions at the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) as Chair of their Associates in Training Committee and Lead of the First5 initiative and was a member of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Chronic Heart Failure guideline committee.

Professor Taylor was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to General Practice in 2015 and recently awarded the prestigious RCGP John Fry Award 2023 for promoting the discipline of general practice through research and publishing.

Teaching

Professor Taylor was lecturer and lead for the MSc in Primary Care Heart Failure module, community-based medicine tutor and senior clinical examiner at the University 麻豆精选 and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning.

She currently supervises undergraduate, masters, and doctoral students, and is a Fellow and academic advisor at Harris Manchester College, Oxford. She also writes blogs and infographics to ensure her research is accessible for the busy GP.

Other activities

Professor Taylor has experience in senior leadership and policy roles. She chaired the Associates in Training committee at RCGP and established and led the RCGP First5 initiative to support new GPs in their first five years of practice. She was also on RCGP Council and the Society for Academic Primary Care Executive Board, and a member of the NICE Chronic Heart Failure guideline committee 2018.
