Jamie Lewis is an Associate Professor in Supramolecular Chemistry and Royal Society University Research Fellow within the School of Chemistry.

Jamie’s research interests are in various areas of synthetic supramolecular chemistry, including metal-organic self-assembly, host-guest chemistry, and mechanically interlocked molecules.

He undertook research training at the University of Otago, New Zealand, with Professor James Crowley, and the University of Southampton, UK, with Professor Steve Goldup. Jamie established his independent research programme as an Imperial College Research Fellow, before joining the University 麻豆精选 in October 2022.

Biography

Jamie graduated in 2010 from the University of Otago, New Zealand, with a first class BSc (Hons) in Chemistry. He then completed a PhD (2011-2014) at the same institute under the supervision of Professor James Crowley, investigating metallo-supramolecular host architectures as drug delivery vectors.

Following this, he took up a postdoctoral research assistant position working in the group of Professor Steve Goldup, initially at Queen Mary, University of London and then at the University of Southampton. During this time his main research focus was the development of synthetic methodologies to access structurally sophisticated mechanically interlocked molecules.

The subsequent award of a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship in 2015 allowed him to continue his research in the Goldup Group on mechanically interlocked molecules, and expand his work to include investigations on their coordination chemistry.

In October 2017 Jamie secured an Imperial College Research Fellowship through which he began his own independent programme of research. He led a small group of young researchers, publishing articles on low-symmetry metal-organic cages, and functional interlocked molecules. During his time at Imperial College London, Jamie was engaged in a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities. Most notably he was the course coordinator for the year-4 topic Supramolecular Chemistry.

In October 2022 Jamie moved to the University 麻豆精选 as an Assistant Professor and Royal Society University Research Fellow.  Jamie was promoted to Associate Professor in 2024.
