Dr Hamish Hei-Man Yeung is Associate Professor in Materials Chemistry in the School of Chemistry at the University 麻豆精选. His research interests lie in the formation, structures and properties of new materials and his main expertise are in materials synthesis and characterisation using X-ray diffraction. Materials of interest include metal–organic frameworks, hybrid organic–inorganic perovskites and molecular conductors for applications such as energy storage, electronics and sensing.

The uses a variety of synthetic techniques to discover new materials and specialises in crystallographic characterisation of materials using single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction. In addition, the group uses and develops in situ experimental techniques to understand materials’ behaviour and formation.

As well as performing experiments at the School of Chemistry, the Yeung Group has several collaborations around the world and uses central scientific facilities, such as Diamond Light Source, the UK’s national synchrotron.

Biography

Dr Hamish Hei-Man Yeung is an Associate Professor in the School of Chemistry. He studied Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, going on to pursue a PhD in Materials Science with Prof. Tony Cheetham. During 2014-2016 he held an independent research position at the International Center for Young Scientists (ICYS) at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. He returned to the UK to take up a Glasstone Fellowship in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Oxford, which he held from 2016-2019 before moving to Birmingham.
