I have more than 30 years experience as a costumier, twenty of which I spent as costume supervisor/maker for Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. I then moved into a freelance career as a costume maker, an area of the costume design process I really enjoy, enabling me to work alongside many fantastic creatives.
I have been very lucky to work on some exciting projects from wardrobe assistant through to costume maker and supervisor including the 2022 Commonwealth Games opening and closing ceremonies, Cirque du Soleil, Birmingham Opera Company, The Belgrade Theatre Coventry, Leicester Curve, China Plate, Rusticus, James MacIver Costumes and Imagine Theatre.
I very much enjoy costuming live theatre with the DTA students, as well as being constantly surprised and delighted by regular approaches from colleagues in a wide variety of other departments who require access our stores, seek costuming advice, or need our specialist input.
