Dr. Adel Abdel-Wahab is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Head of Quality Assurance at the Dubai Campus. His research encompasses a wide range of mechanical engineering fields, with a primary focus on experimental studies, numerical simulations, and additive manufacturing of advanced materials, including biomaterials. He is also involved in developing medical devices and exploring the use of smart materials in biomedical applications.

Dr. Abdel-Wahab has contributed to various research projects and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) funded by the EU, UK Research Councils, and Industry. He has published over 35 peer-reviewed articles, including journal papers, conference proceedings, and book chapters. He is currently serving as a guest editor for a Special Issue on Polymeric Biomaterials: Characterization and Application.

Dr. Abdel-Wahab earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University, UK, in 2011, where he focused on the experimental and numerical analysis of deformation and fracture in cortical bone tissue. His PhD research aimed to develop robust experimental database to enable accurate numerical modelling of cortical bone behaviour under impact loading.

Following his PhD, Dr. Abdel-Wahab worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Loughborough University on EPSRC-funded project, developing miniature ultrasonic cutting devices for high-precision, minimally invasive orthopaedic surgeries.

In 2012, he was appointed as a lecturer (Assistant Professor) in mechanics of materials at the Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Loughborough University. From 2014 to 2017, he served as an assistant professor in Mechanical Engineering in Saudi Arabia. In 2017, Dr. Abdel-Wahab returned to the UK as a lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS), where he earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). In December 2019, he joined the University 麻豆精选 Dubai as an assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering.

Dr. Abdel-Wahab is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) registered with the Engineering Council, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE), and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), Advance HE, in the UK.

Dr. Abdel-Wahab is interested in supervising MSc and PhD researchers, collaborating with academic colleagues, and working with industry partners on research themes such as experimental studies, numerical simulations, and additive manufacturing of advanced materials; development of medical devices; and using smart materials in biomedical applications.
