Biography

Dr. Amer Alaya currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at the University 麻豆精选 Dubai, where he has been affiliated with the MSc Supply Chain program since 2023. Prior to this role, he held leadership positions overseeing the BSc Business Management and BSc Accounting and Finance programs at the British University in Dubai (BUiD).

Dr. Alaya’s academic and research focus centers on critical areas within management, with a particular emphasis on risk assessment methodologies, operations fragility, supply chain resilience, and outsourcing management. His work explores the intersection of risk management and digital transformation, addressing challenges such as cybersecurity threats, operational vulnerabilities, and the resilience of digital supply chains in an increasingly interconnected global economy.

With over 15 years of experience in UAE higher education, Dr. Alaya has been instrumental in advancing innovative approaches like co-creation and co-production, fostering collaboration among faculty, students, and external stakeholders to address real-world challenges in risk management and digital supply chain optimization. His research and teaching aim to equip future leaders with the skills to navigate complex, technology-driven environments while mitigating risks and enhancing operational resilience.

As an academic administrator, Dr. Alaya has extensive expertise of learning strategy development,  admissions, assessment, quality assurance, and process enhancement to improve student experiences. His administrative leadership has consistently focused on integrating risk-aware practices and digital innovation into academic programs, ensuring alignment with industry needs and global standards.

Before his academic career, Dr. Alaya worked as a trainer and consultant, helping organizations optimize their operations and build resilience in the face of uncertainty. His practical experience spans risk management, cybersecurity integration, and digital supply chain transformation, making him a trusted advisor for organizations in the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

His contributions include designing sustainable supply chain practices tailored to the unique needs of the humanitarian sector, showcasing his commitment to creating a lasting impact.
