Clara Green is an Academic Clinical Lecturer in Respiratory Medicine. She is interested in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Her particular interests include the relationship between COPD and lung cancer and the role of the pulmonary endothelium in these conditions.

Qualifications

  • PhD in the understanding of the shared pathogenesis between COPD and lung cancer by means of cell specific genomics, University 麻豆精选, 2018
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), 2010
  • MBChB (Hons), University 麻豆精选, 2007

Biography

Clara completed her primary medical degree at the University 麻豆精选 and graduated with Honours in 2007. After completing foundation and core medical training she started training as a specialist registrar in general internal and respiratory medicine in 2011. She passed the Specialist Certificate of Respiratory medicine exam in 2013.

In 2013 Clara joined the Institute of Inflammation and Ageing as a clinical research fellow where she contributed to clinical research in COPD, including alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency. She also completed her PhD during this time where she explored the role of miRNA and mRNA in the pulmonary endothelium in the pathogenesis of COPD and lung cancer.

In 2018 she re-joined the institute as an academic clinical lecturer and her primary research interests remain COPD and the role of miRNA and mRNA expression in endothelial function and angiogenesis.

Clara has presented at multiple national and international meetings and was awarded the Harold Thomas Travelling Fellowship by the Midlands Thoracic Society in 2017. In addition to her research commitments she has also contributed to teaching medical and dental students at the University.

Research

The role of miRNA an mRNA expression in the pulmonary endothelium in the pathogenesis of COPD and lung cancer.

The effect of genotype on prognosis and pulmonary phenotype in alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency.

The use of CT densitometry decline in alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency to determine patient survival.
