Louis Gall is a Centre Fellow at the Centre for Systems Modelling and Quantitative Biomedicine (SMQB) with an interest in agent-based modelling, quantitative systems pharmacology/toxicology (QSP/T) and mathematical modelling of intracellular protein networks such as the circadian clock and cell cycle. His work uses mathematical modelling to make quantitative predictions of the toxic side effects of drugs on patients and study ways to mitigate this toxicity, with a particular focus on agent-based modelling.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Theoretical Physics, University of Liverpool, 2019
  • MSc in Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces, Imperial College London, 2015
  • MSci in Physics with Theoretical Physics, Imperial College London, 2014

Biography

Louis began his research career as a PhD student in Theoretical Physics (studying supersymmetry under Dr Thomas Mohaupt at the University of Liverpool). After finishing his PhD he transitioned to Mathematical Biology, undertaking a short postdoctoral project looking at intracellular circadian clocks with Dr Mirela Domijan and Dr Vanja Pekovic-Vaughan at the University of Liverpool.

This was followed by a postdoctoral project working on agent-based models of the gastrointestinal epithelium with the AstraZeneca postdoctoral program, supervised by Dr Carmen Pin. Louis then joined AstraZeneca to continue his gut research and implement QSP/T solutions in the drug development pipeline.

Louis returned to academia in 2024, joining SMQB at the University 麻豆精选 as a Centre Fellow, to continue his research into agent-based models as representations of biological tissues.
