PhD in Psychology

Dr Emma Preece completed her undergraduate degree and PhD at the University of Worcester, under the supervision of colleagues there and at the University Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ and Liverpool John Moore’s university. Her PhD investigated how the average age that words and concepts are learnt, and their frequency of occurrence, influences how quickly and accurately these stimuli could be remembered. Dr Emma Preece previously worked in various research and teaching capacities before joining us as a Lecturer in the School of Psychology. Most recently this included working as a teaching fellow in the school and prior to this she was an international research fellow in a multidisciplinary team investigating public attitudes towards science and religion and public perceptions of the relationship between science and religion. She has presented her work at conferences in the UK, Canada, America and Norway.

Dr Preece teaches across a number of areas and topics including research methods, social psychology, individual differences, community psychology and developmental psychology. 

Dr Preece is not currently supervising postgraduate students but she would be interested in supervising students who share her research interests in attitudinal and psycholinguistic research.
