Dr Rachael Stickland
Senior Research Data Scientist
In March 2025, Rachael joined the Research Software Group and the Institute for Data and AI (IDAI) as a Senior Research Data Scientist. Rachael is a 2025 Fellow of the , which works to "enable world-class research" by helping people build better and more sustainable research software.
Rachael completed a PhD in Integrative Neuroscience at , investigating neurovascular and metabolic function in healthy and clinical populations. In 2019, Rachael joined the at Northwestern University as their first Postdoctoral Research Fellow, operationally leading many research studies and training research students. During this postdoc, Rachael became actively involved in open science and software best practices, joining the community. In 2022, Rachael joined The Alan Turing Institute as a , working within the . At Turing, Rachael worked for 1 year as an and also joined ’s Scientific Advisory Group.
